Americas flags quiz

Name the country from its flag, for all 35 countries of the Americas. Wrong options come from the same region and, where one exists, from a flag that is known to look similar, so close attention pays off. The full set of flags is below if you want to study first.

How the flags quiz works

Each question shows a national flag in its official proportions, so a square or unusually long flag is itself a clue. You choose from four countries: the answer, up to three neighbours in the same region, and, if the flag has a well-known lookalike, usually that lookalike too, from our guide to similar flags. One point per correct answer; the streak counts correct answers in a row.

Two pairs are never offered against each other: Romania and Chad, and Indonesia and Monaco. On a screen, the only differences are a shade of blue or the flag’s proportions, which is not a fair test of knowledge.

Commonly confused flags in the Americas

None of the ten pairs in our flags that look alike guide involve the Americas; the colour comparison below shows which flags here share a palette.

Flags with almost the same colours

These pairs have the closest measured palettes in the Americas, after excluding the pairs above. They share colours, not necessarily layout, so check stripe direction, emblems and stars.

Counted from colours measured on each flag image, where the colour covers at least 3% of the flag. Small details in emblems and coats of arms are not counted; dark reds such as Qatar’s maroon count as red, and light blues as blue.
