The flag of Botswana has a light blue field with a black horizontal stripe at the center, bordered by two thin white lines. Blue represents water, particularly rain, which is vital to this semi-arid country; indeed, Botswana's national motto is 'Pula,' meaning 'rain' in Setswana, and also the name of the national currency.
