Meaning and history of the flag of Cambodia

Cambodia's flag features three horizontal stripes: blue on top and bottom, with a red central band twice as wide as the other two. At the heart of the red stripe stands a white silhouette of Angkor Wat, the country's most iconic monument and a symbol of Khmer heritage. The flag was readopted in 1993 when the monarchy was restored, though its original design dates back to 1948.

Cambodia is one of the few countries in the world whose flag depicts an actual building.
