Somalia lies in East Africa. Its geographic centre is at about 5.15° N, 46.20° E, and the capital, Mogadishu, is at 2.04° N, 45.34° E.

With 637,657 km², it is the 19th-largest of the 54 countries in Africa — about 2.6 times the size of the United Kingdom.
